About me
I was born in England and I have lived in Spain for 10 years. I can speak four languages fluently (English, Spanish, Catalan, and Italian):
I have also studied Latin and Ancient Greek at university, and I am currently learning Mandarin Chinese, too!
As well as teaching here at Frog English, I actively publish and present at international conferences in the areas of multilingualism and language learning. I am also teaching on a Master’s degree course on the topic on online language learning and technology at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.
Of course, I also love frogs! In my home office I keep three dart frogs in a special vivarium. They’re perfectly safe to keep, though, as they are only poisonous in the wild!

My child has been learning English with Andrew for more than 2 years, 2 times a week, from the initial popping up words to the present elaboration of ideas, I can obviously feel my child's speaking and listening improved. Feedback on the teacher is generally as follows:

Tommy has been studying with Dr Andrew for over a year now. He is very familiar with the Reach curriculum and we started with GK and are now in G1B. Andrew's classroom style is very lively, the teacher is very humorous and adjusts the content of the class according to the child's learning situation, and there is a wealth of knowledge outside the classroom, which the child particularly enjoys and looks forward to each week's lesson.
Andrew老师是Shaun在西学纪的主课老师。从7年级的Critical Thinking CL4到8年级的TOEFL预备课,一共四个学期。期间,本学期由于Shaun周末的时间冲突,曾转到过其他同级别的并行课学习。但很快,Shaun主动调整了日程,重新回到了Andrew老师的课堂上,并坚持完成了本学期的全部课程。可见,他非常喜爱Andrew老师。
作为学生家长,我想从几个方面谈一下我对Andrew老师任课风格和特点的观察。
首先,Andrew老师的教学风格生动兼具极强的控场能力。每节课均能按照既定的教学目标推进,且张弛有度。学生们在课堂上的参与度也很很不错。线上课本身对于任课老师的要求就非常高,且学生们的性格、语言能力等均有差异。能在短时间内对学生的特点把握到位,且兼顾对知识点的铺陈、课堂互动的总体推进以及针对每一位学生特点的引导和鼓励非常不容易。对比Shaun在国际学校的一些ELA任课老师,我和Shaun对于西学纪几位老师,尤其是Andrew老师的专业和教学质量都非常认可。
而作为参与课程设计的Andrew老师,除了能够在课堂上带领学生学习知识点、引导讨论互动,也始终非常注重对于学生独立思考的能力培养。而这些是很多培训机构甚至是学校的英语教学做不到的。孩子们在Andrew老师的带领下,不仅仅感受到了学习英语的乐趣,也渐渐开始更多地深度且独立地思考,这是作为家长最喜闻乐见的。
Last but not least,Andrew老师对于学生的关注、理解和责任心是非常令人感动的。每个学期的期中和期末,Andrew老师都会非常认真地给Shaun写评语,在发现Shaun的显著进步和一些问题时,Andrew老师也会非常及时地与我们沟通。从Andrew老师评语的字里行间,我们能够感受到他对于Shaun在所学课程客观、细致的评价,并且有非常中肯的意见和建议。可见,Andrew老师严谨的教学态度和超强的责任心。
总之,非常幸运能在Shaun的批判性思维学习过程中遇到Andrew老师。

Mr Andrew is Shaun's main teacher. He taught Critical Thinking CL4 in Year 7 to TOEFL Prep in Year 8 for four terms. During this period, Shaun was transferred to other parallel classes at the same level during this semester due to conflicting schedules on weekends. However, Shaun quickly adjusted his schedule and returned to Andrew's class and continued to complete the entire semester. It is clear that he loves Mr Andrew very much.
As a parent of a student, I would like to talk about my observations of Mr Andrew's teaching style and characteristics from several aspects.
Firstly, Mr Andrew's teaching style is lively and he has a great ability to control the scene. Each lesson follows the set objectives and is well modulated. The students' participation in the class was also very good. The online class itself is very demanding for the teacher, and the students have different personalities and language skills. It is not easy to get a good grasp of the students' characteristics in a short time, and at the same time, lay out the knowledge points, promote the overall interaction in the classroom, and provide guidance and encouragement for each student's characteristics. Compared to some of Shaun's ELA teachers in international schools, Shaun and I are very positive about the professionalism and quality of the teachers, especially Andrew.
As a participant in the course design, Mr Andrew, in addition to leading the students to learn the knowledge points and guiding the discussion and interaction in the classroom, he also pays great attention to the cultivation of the students' ability to think independently. This is something that many training organisations and even schools are unable to do. Under Andrew's leadership, children not only feel the fun of learning English, but also gradually begin to think more deeply and independently, which is the most pleasing thing for parents to see.
Last but not least, Mr Andrew's attention, understanding and commitment to his students is very touching. At the mid-term and end of each term, Ms Andrew writes Shaun's comments very carefully, and communicates with us in a timely manner when she notices any significant progress or problems with Shaun. From the wording of Mr Andrew's comments, we can feel his objective and detailed evaluation of Shaun's learning programme, as well as his very pertinent comments and suggestions. We can see that Mr Andrew has a rigorous teaching attitude and a strong sense of responsibility.
All in all, I am very lucky to have met Mr Andrew in Shaun's critical thinking learning process.

Andrew's classes are very professional, and he is able to explain the surface knowledge clearly and then extend it to the deeper knowledge, Andrew is very professional in language subjects, but the atmosphere in the classroom is relaxed, Andrew is funny and has his own unique style of teaching. He takes his time to guide the students and show them how to do better. He encourages students and keeps them motivated. He sometimes jokes around to keep the students enthusiastic about learning!
